Greetings, everyone.

Today I decided to make a video about Armored Warfare which, as the name implies, is an armored combat vehicle (AKA tanks) game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment. It uses the well-known CryEngine and it has both online PvE and PvP game modes. The game is currently in Open Beta status and you can download it and give it a try at its official website here: http://aw.my.com/

For this video, as I usually do when testing a new game, I’ll be doing some frame rate testing and show you guys all the graphical settings present in the game.

But first, my current PC specs are as follows:

-CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz (Turbo).
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger.
-GPU: Asus GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2 GB with no extra OC.
-RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB where both game and O.S. are installed.
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.

So, as we can see in the video, I start off with the Ultra preset, and doing the tutorial mission we can see some good enough frame rate numbers there. It usually stays above 60 which is quite good. It also looks quite decent for a free to play game and that’s because of how powerful the CryEngine can be.

Lowering the quality preset to Very High, High, and so on subsequently gives us better frame rate on each step, so here we clearly have some nice flexibility and we can choose what we want: better FPS but a bit less quality or still decent enough FPS with more eye candy. The decision is yours of course, and I ended up choosing a mix of High, with textures still on Ultra but the post process effects on Medium because I don’t really like motion blur and the sun rays looked too distracting as well.

All in all, the game runs pretty well on my system and if you like these types of games it might be interesting to give it a go and see it for yourself.

I hope this simple performance testing video was of any use to you, and I’ll see you in the next one : )
