Fallout 4 - Looting the Cryolator without lockpicking - Dogmeat to the rescue

A short video today, about something funny that happened when searching for loot in Vault 111 with my companion Dogmeat.
If you remember the first time we walked around Vault 111, at the beginning of the game, we can find a nice weapon called the Cryolator, locked inside a display case on the wall with a master level lock.
I was going to get master lockpicking eventually but not anytime soon, as I’m still around level 12 or so, but then I decided to try some stuff out with Dogmeat. After several tests I found that if you command him to stand just right next to the locked box where the weapon is, and then we ask him to look for items…he will simply snag the Cryolator from its container without opening the lock…now that’s a nice trick, Dogmeat : P
I laughed so much when this happened that I decided to make this video, so I hope this “trick” also works for you and enjoy your early game Cryolator, but I’m guessing getting the cryo cells might be a bit difficult early on (Dogmeat looted 200 it seems, when he grabbed the weapon from its case).
