This game is known in Japan as "Ryuuko no Ken Gaiden" (translates from Japanese as 'Dragon and Tiger Fist Side Story').

In each character endings, you receive a nice hand-draw of the character on the 'Thank you for Playing' screen.

The drawing Hoeh-Hoeh selects for Wang Koh San in the ending is random, there are 7 different ones.

Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Ryuuko no Ken Gaiden - PCCB-00212) on 03/04/1996.

* All characters have 2 colors, one is selected with the A button an the other one is chosen with the D button.

* Play as Sinclair : Highlight Robert and press Left (or highlight Jin and press Right(x2)).

* Play as Wyler : Highlight Robert and press Left(x2) (or highlight Jin and press Right).

* Special Day (Birthday Gift) : Definitely one of the strangest tricks in fighting games, each character will be powered up on his birthday (able to perform Super Desperation Moves at any moment during the fight!).

* Ultimate K.O. : Defeat an opponent in the first round by using your character's Super Desperation Move when the enemy's lifebar is 5% of less. If done correctly, you'll win the whole match in just a single round!

용호의 권 외전

용호의 권 시리즈의 세 번째 작품이자, 마지막 작품. 타이틀에 '용호의 권' 시리즈의 수출판 제목인 'Art of Fighting'이 들어갔다. 일본 국내에서는 외전으로 못을 박았지만, 수출판 타이틀은 'THE PATH OF THE WARRIOR - ART OF FIGHTING 3'. 그래서 일부에서는 '용호의 권 3'라고 알고 있는 경우도 있지만 엄밀히 말하면 정식 넘버링 작품은 아니다.

SNK 3편 징크스의 절정이자 당시 SNK의 3대 프랜차이즈(용호의 권 시리즈, 아랑전설 시리즈, 사무라이 스피리츠 시리즈)의 한 축이었던 용호의 권을 아예 재기불능의 나락으로 처박게만든 최악의 졸작이다. 또한 KOF XIV가 나오기까지 무려 20년간 SNK를 괴롭힌 SNK 3D 징크스의 스타트를 끊은 작품이기도 하였다. 1년 전에 나온 아랑전설 3도 결코 성공작이라고 말하기는 힘들었지만 후술할 그 아랑전설 3의 단점을 모조리 수정해서 나온 작품인 리얼 바웃 아랑전설이 다시 큰 호평을 얻게 된 반면, 용호의 권 외전은 전작 용호의 권 2의 대히트에 힘입어 가히 사내의 모든 기술과 자금을 모아 심혈을 기울인 작품이라고 할 수 있었는데, 너무나도 시원하게 망해서 SNK가 도산하는 원인이 되었다.


등장인물

•로버트 가르시아 : 본작에서는 주인공. 복장이 산뜻한 청색[15]으로 바뀌었다. 우연히 만난 옛 친구 프레아를 돕기 위해 그래스힐 밸리로 향한다.
•료 사카자키 : 카만 콜의 의뢰를 받고 사건에 휘말리는 로버트를 걱정해서 유리와 함께 뒤를 따른다.
•토도 카스미 : 토도 류하쿠의 차녀. 아버지가 료에게 패배하고 자취를 감춘 뒤 아버지의 행방을 묻기 위해 극한류 일파를 찾고 있다.
•후하 진 : 키사라기 에이지의 동문. 차기 계승자로 자신이 아닌 에이지가 선택된 것에 불만을 품고 있으며 에이지를 이긴 료를 찾기 위해 참전.
•카만 콜 : 가르시아가의 집사 겸 에이전트. 가업을 내팽개친(...) 로버트를 데리고 이탈리아로 돌아가기 위해 그를 찾고 있다.
•왕각산 : 펠리컨 호에호에를 데리고 스케치 여행을 다니고 있는 심의육합권의 달인. 같은 대만 출신인 리 파이론과 안면이 있다고 한다. 엔딩에서는 와일러를 때려눕히고 계속 여행하는데 마음에 드는 그림을 호에호에에게 보여주면서 하나 골라보라고 말한다. 호에호에가 고르는 그림은 랜덤. 다만 캐릭터 자체의 인기가 별로 없어서 KOF 2002에서 배경맨으로 등장한게 전부다. 국내판에서는 박씨로 개명당했다.
•레니 크레스턴 : 채찍을 사용하며 정보망이 넓은 여성 프리 저널리스트 겸 바운티 헌터. 와일러에게 프레아의 수색을 의뢰받고 로디를 갈궈서(...) 함께 그래스힐 밸리에 왔다. 기가 드세지만 중요한 부분에서 덜렁대는 경우가 많다. 하지만 정작 와일러는 먼저 프레아를 찾아내서는 계약은 무효고 돈도 줄 수 없으며 대신 죽여주겠다며 덤벼온다. 당연히 떡실신당하고, 프레아는 와일러를 돌보게 해달라고 애원해서 그냥 모르는 척하고 투덜대는 로디를 데리고 떠나버린다.
•로디 버츠 : 톤파를 사용하는 경쾌한 사립탐정 겸 바운티 헌터. 레니에게서 프레아의 보호를 억지로 부탁받고 탐색에 함께 나선다. 평소에도 레니에게 매우 약한 듯. 엔딩은 로디가 와일러를 때려눕히고, 레니가 투덜대는 것을 빼고는 레니와 똑같다. 이름의 유래는 은하표류 바이팜의 로디 셔플과, 버츠 라이언.
