3,5 years after I bought my most recent gaming PC we've finally reached the point at which a shiny new game doesn't officially support my aging graphics card (the sturdy powerhouse GTX 580). Granted, Assassin's Creed Unity's system requirements have been the subject of some controversy in this strange new (console) world, in which PC ports have sadly returned to levels of shoddiness (at least performance-wise) we haven't seen in years. That said, it's definitely time to do something about my hardware situation, and it's amazing that my expensive-but-not-crazily-overpowered gaming rig from 2011 has been able to get me this far. I suspect this can only really be attributed to the restraining effects of the exceptionally long seventh console generation (if you have to develop with ancient specs from 2005/2006 in mind there's not much incentive to push the technical limits of high-end PCs).
