DA:I suffered from extremely long loading times and odd-looking character models on my old computer, so it's a relief to get a speed boost and more bells and whistles on my new rig. There are some slowdowns in dense areas on max settings, though, so the game appears to be a bit more demanding than it looks (and certainly less visually optimized than the similarily Frostbite-powered Battlefield 4).
As for the gameplay, I haven't had much time to dig into it yet but suffice it to say that DA:I is not clicking with me just yet. I've been saying for years that RPGs don't need to be open world-like just because Elder Scrolls is very popular with them kidz, and I'm not sure how much this methodical "vacuum-cleaning" of large outdoor areas adds to the overall Dragon Age experience as defined by the earlier entries in the series. Combat-wise I'm still shell-shocked by my awful experiences of the prologue section and just keep spamming the attack button because that's clearly what the game wants me to do anyway. Plugging in a gamepad sometime after recording this video made all the sense in the world, sadly...
