Some games are singleplayer only, while many others have optional multiplayer. This is one of the few that insists on having two players, presumably because the game seems intended to teach cooperation and teamwork.

Your nutniks, long-armed high-jumping creatures in yellow and green, have to catch the stars flying by to power their peanut butter sandwich machine. Eat sandwiches to bulk up, or lose weight over time through jumping, and use the springboards on the sides to launch a lighter-weight partner to reach the highest and most valuable stars... but watch out for the snarfs that also want to eat your sandwiches!

I remember bugging my parents to play this with me pretty much all the time, so it must have done something right, at least from the perspective of a child. There's no score as such, though the game does track which stage you're on with the star marks along the bottom of the machine, and at the end gives final results for how many sandwiches each team ate.
