Audica is a VR shooting based rhythm game from the studio behind the Rock Band series, Its currently out on early access at the the price of $19.99 but will increase upon its full release. Its a solid game that's all about obtaining a high score and getting further up the leader board. It features four difficulties, beginner, moderate, advanced, and expert. You score points by shooting notes that match the color, some will require you to shoot and hold, others will come in chain where you have to follow its pattern and more. Your scoring is based on timing, accuracy and form and provides enough of a challenge that there will certainly be a high skill ceiling for those who want to master it.

Content wise Audicas biggest con has to be the lack of genre in its current track selection, if your not a fan of electronic music this isn't for you, yet. Harmonix has stated they will regularly be adding more songs throughout early access raising the current total of available tracks from 10 higher. They have also stated that a campaign and expert+ difficulty is coming down the road in early access as well.

Visually Audica is a pleasure for the eyes. Hitting notes and seeing them explode into firework like visuals is certainly fun to see and thankfully not distracting from your main objective. My only complaint here is that the indicators for off screen notes can be hard to notice at times but you do get used to it after a while. The immersion is great as well, I certainly lost track of time playing this game for a good while and it was easy to get into the rhythm of the songs due to great mapping by the developers.

Overall Audica is a good game and a very solid foundation to make it a great game, it certainly isn't perfect and has things it has to work on such as its track selection, allowing for more user customization like making all notes one color etc. but it definitely stand out game play wise, its got enough character and style that it doesn't feel like the other games its competing with. Don't go in expecting beat saber because its not that. There carving out their own path here and im curious to see where it goes. Ill definitely be revisiting this game down the road and keeping up with its updates.

I apologize if ads show up here but felt its necessary to hear the soundtrack of the game in the review.
