Back to Marist: The First Day of My Third Year
This is a more personal video, where I talk about coming back to campus for my third year teaching Philosophy classes in the Core Curriculum at Marist College.
One of the aspects that made this such a good day was meeting up with -- and catching up with -- several of my former students. I also spent some time reconnecting with various colleagues, some in Philosophy, some in other disciplines.
I also end up discussing what I'm doing in my two classes, Philosophical Perspectives (focused on the themes of Love, Friendship, and Desire) and Ethics -- what sort of texts and thinkers we'll be studying, how I use the course management system to create an online learning environment, why I make my students write so much, and what kind of students (good, hardworking ones, for the most part) I get in my classes at Marist.
