Long ago, there lived a great white snake who had the magical ability to transform into a human being. Amidst her first venture into the mortal world, the White Snake, whose human name was Bai Suzhen, met a kind hearted, if naive, young man named Xu Xian, and fell blissfully in love with him. But when an overzealous and paranoid Buddhist monk finds out about Bai's true origins, things become heartbreaking for our magical serpentine heroine!
