Balls and Protractors Part 2, Episode 27 of Journey Into Space
13There has been a mix-up at the Dodd Rocket Design Bureau, I ordered a Duna rocket, they gave me a Mun rocket! There's nothing for it, we paid them in advance, the buggers. My Italian relatives at the Bureau must have miscommunicated and said "Hey, he say he want a Muna rocket, capiche? You know, when the muna hit your eye like a big pizza pie, that's what he wanna do to them poor kerbals, hit em in the eye with the Mun, so get busy there, eh? Why? Duna ask why, just do it okay?"
Now we have to fly an ordinary Mun rocket to Duna and try to get it back too, using a gravity slingshot maneuver and the Oberth effect and some other space navigation hijinks with weird scientific names. Jebediah doesn't like those names, so he is just calling them the "gravity rubber band thing" and the "Burn Faster" maneuver.
In this episode we give the slingshot maneuver another try, hopefully in the right direction this time
I just found out that Journey Into Space was the name of a 1950's BBC Science Fiction radio show! Thanks to rabasiticamphibian for the info!
