Bangai-O is a classic game; a high action platformer, released on the N64 and later converted to the Dreamcast. I think the Dreamcast version is slightly better, and I'm using twin analogue sticks to control it via emulation. Lets take a look at some of the early levels.

I was looking for shooters and recommended games for the Dreamcast, and this came highly recommended on the list. At first I was totally bewildered as to what to do. I had to go and watch a few videos about this game to help me get off some tricky levels. After some time, I was so delighted with the overall experience that I can say it is a classic game on the system, and went back to record this footage.

There are many of these Thexder clones on many Japanese systems, but this one takes the cake for being the most chaotic and often very fun. The later levels become trial and error, and this is where the longevity is spoiled by having to look up the solutions online. There is one level in particular that is covered with destructible balls and energy shields, but using a shield against the boss is an almost instant game over, so sometimes these things have to learned the hard way.

Overall, I feel this title has character and charm, and certainly more than I was expecting.
