♫Battle Theme from Princess Maker, SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete
This is my arrangement of Masahiro Kajiwara's battle theme from Gainax's 1991 game Princess Maker, which was released in English as Princess Maker Refine in 2017 for Windows (Steam). I have arranged it for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES console.
I recorded the clips for this video from the 1991 DOS/V release of the game.
This battle theme from the first game in the Princess Maker series is very good at getting stubbornly lodged in my head whenever I hear it. Kajiwara is something of a God of FM synth. He's not so well known in the west since the games he composed music for tended to be exclusively sold for the Japanese market, but he has worked on some real classics, including Rusty, Valis II, and Faust, if you're familiar with any of those, alongside his work for the Princess Maker series.
The very beginning of the track isn't part of the actual battle theme. It is the "I'm wandering around expecting a random encounter" theme, and since I thought it made a nice way to introduce the actual battle music, I went ahead and sequenced it too.
Thanks for listening. I hope you like it!
I have also arranged the battle theme from Princess Maker 3, which you can find here: https://youtu.be/HXf8rQzk6VE
