Bayonetta for PlayStation 3
Hello, and Welcome to another sneak peek into PlayStation 3 games. This time we take a look at an excellent Action game, Bayonetta.
Caught in the middle of an age old rivalry, Bayonetta, the dark witch, uses her demonic summoning powers to fight off legions of angelic enemies. As she uncovers the astounding truth of her origins, she discovers she alone may hold the key to saving all of creation.
The graphics in Bayonetta are pretty good. Nothing ground breaking, and the stages are all quite small, but the overall style of the game makes the graphics stand out.
I really do love the style of the graphics in Bayonetta. Bayonetta is hot looking, her moves are quite cool, and the way she can kill enemies with many different combos, and finishing moves makes it easy to ignore the small stages.
The music is really good in Bayonetta. It seems to have very peppy music, keeping you in the mood to pound on enemies. I would have preferred the lyrics to be in Japanese, to better fit the gameplay and artwork style, but I guess we can't have everything.
The sound effects are also pretty decent. As you play the game you will notice some repetitiveness to the sound effects, especially if you do the same combos over and over, but I think overall, there are enough sound effects in the game, and are more varied than the Devil May Cry series, if just by a little.
The controls in Bayonetta are what make the game so much fun! Bayonetta has extremely precise and tight controls, with a ton of combos to learn and master. Playing the game is just bliss, and the combos are pretty easy to pull off and learn as well. I couldn't have asked for more.
PS3 vs 360 Comparison: I know many of you will ask this question, so here is the FLAT TRUTH! Even though Bayonetta is on the PS3, and that is the version I purchased, I will admit it is slightly better on the 360, as that is the system it was developed on, and SEGA did a sloppy job porting the game to the PS3.
The differences are Framerate/Screen Tearing, Color, Graphical Sharpness Clarity, and Loading times. However, SEGA just released a patch recently allowing the game to be installed on the hard drive, so loading times are no longer an issue. Also, if you turn the color up on the TV then that fixes that issue as well. Turn the sharpness up on the tv and it looks pretty damn clear IMO, so the only REAL issue between the two versions are Framerate/Screen tear.
The framerate will always be a little lower on the PS3 version due to bad coding on SEGAs part. I doubt there will ever be any fix for that, so if framerate means anything to you, then I suggest getting this game on 360. If the framerate you see in this video is "good enough" for you, and you prefer the PS3 controller over the 360 controller, then I would suggest getting it on PS3. It's as simple as that really.
Bottom line: Bayonetta is a great action game with enough stages, and combos to learn, to keep you busy for quite some time. It is easily on par with the Devil May Cry series, and IMO is actually better, and just much more fun to play! Perhaps I just dig looking at Bayonetta more than staring at Dante the whole time. I don't know, but I do know Bayonetta is one hot game, and is a must buy for fans of the DMC games.
This game is in 720p native, has Dual Shock 3 Rumble support, Trophy support, and has Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.
