While not all GOG releases are genuinely *good* old games, some not-great titles nonetheless feel like entirely legitimate additions to the GOG catalogue simply in virtue of being patched up to work effortlessly on today's operating systems. Admittedly, with DOS games there aren't really any true digital preservation issues left these days since DOSBox is free, stable and fairly easy to use; but for those tricky old Windows games from the pre-XP era every bit of patching is much appreciated.

Case in point is Blood 2: The Chosen, one of the exceedingly few older games which I - despite serious attempts - have personally never been able to run on a modern computer at all in its original disc-based version. The actual game is an underwhelming LithTech-powered sequel to Monolith's 1997 FPS classic, but it's still kind of nice to know that the game is back in playable state even for those of us who don't happen to have Windows 98 installed on one of our computers...
