Breath of Fire 3 - 0 Exp Run Part 14: Ammonites

This time, I show the party's equipment after the battle and not before as I do normally.
Ammonites is the boss you face as you navigate the Black Ship, and one of the few multi-enemy boss battles in the game. Both are identical stat-and-property-wise - electric-weak and packing 28 speed, meaning we can make Garr EX-turn them quite easily after 2 Speeds from Rei, and of course Rei can get there with 1 Speed without any hassle, given you equip 2 pairs of Speed Boots. Ryu cannot EX-turn the bosses at all, sadly, which is kinda bad because a good Last Resort Ryu deals more damage with Blitz from the rear than a Weretiger Rei is capable of dishing out from the point of the attack formation with its 70% attack bonus on top of Weretiger tripling Rei's attack. Go figure (or just believe me that the early GooKingSword is such a jolly good weapon even for a lv. 1 scrub).
Their electric weakness can't really be exploited very successfully here, though in a regular run Warrior's Thunder Claw would make this a joke of a boss battle (given that nobody gets confused).
Before the fight, you get to play a little minigame, in which succeeding to avoid being ambushed by the Ammonites changes their AI to where they have a decent chance of losing their turn and suffering minor damage instead, which is one turn you don't have to worry about being confused or both the Ammonites targeting Rei before he accumulated enough Protect buffs to afford taking a lot of punishment.
Top priority is giving Rei and Garr their EX-turns, and this is now easier than ever considering we have a Robe of Wind to mimic the Speed spell that Rei exclusively possesses in this challenge (Momo doesn't level up; I guess there's the Momo hybrid but iirc we don't have the AP to transform into that - not that it's ever a good idea). We could always dupe the Robe of Wind to have another one, but even for this broken run where "anything goes" I'm not so cool with that prospect tbqh.
Now, with Influence used on Rei, it still turns out Ryu is beating Rei in damage per action, taking both enemies into account. Rei is still EX-turning when Ryu isn't, so he's still a more invaluable party member here. Plus, Ryu can always just die to a physical attack.
When one Ammonite is dead, the other suddenly learns powerful ice-elemental magic, which I didn't specifically prepare for. Rei should finish it off soon enough for that to matter (don't recall it even being a problem on any of my attempts).
And so we cross the ocean, which gives us access to a whole new part of the BoF3 universe, with new enemies and challenges to face.
