Couldn't upload anything for a while because of a weird problem with DivX Converter and apparently some codecs (resolved now).

One of the tougher bosses in the first half of the game, I think? It's not too bad in a normal playthrough, and with proper preparation it is very manageable here, too.

In this boss fight, you take on three enemies at once - Gisshan and his hooligan sidekicks, Scylla and Charyb(dis). Gisshan supports the enemy party with healing (weak Vitalize castings to be precise) and negative status (Sleep and Confuse) on our party, so status inoculations are a must, whereas protection from fire isn't of essence when Ryu and Garr can put on armour protecting from the element and Momo can just use the Ring of Fire found in this very dungeon.

Since you face off three enemies here, Blitz seems like such a good idea. The only problem is losing HP upon using it. It's not hard to arrange the party's speed properties to have the non-Blitzer restore the Blitzer's HP after his every attack.

The centre of my offence in this battle is, of course, centred around Garr who can finally be switched into the party again (Nina is forced in the Dolphin battle). He gains the monstrous 70% bonus to attack while at the point of the attack formation and Vodka Shot further amplifies his (relative) offensive prowess. His 16% Reprisal rate also doubles to 32%, leading to some decent chances to counterattack the monsters' physicals and Snap attacks.

Some really good gear can be farmed as rare drops at this point in the game - Flame Shields and Magma Armour can all be acquired and given to Ryu and Garr to improve their durability (enabling Ryu to survive a Snap at max HP in spite of his bad lv. 1 bulk). Momo doesn't get either so she goes for a speedy build with the Speed Boots to outspeed both the monsters (but not Gisshan with his 20 speed). With her speed, she can function as a backup healer for Garr should Ryu perish in the battle. When that is not necessary, Momo can use Vodka Shot or support the party offensively by using Double Blow and Icicle (exploiting the bosses' ice weakness as well as Momo's good Intelligence stat).

Beating Gisshan opens up the last portion of the earlygame's final part and while there's not a whole lot to do, I stick there for a while because the next boss is notoriously difficult to defeat for a lv. 1 Ryu...
