Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror (PC) Playthrough / Not as good as the original but still great.
Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror (2010) by Revolution Software is a sequel following the adventures of George Stobbart, a property guarantor who would never have expected where his destiny would take him in life. Broken Sword is a legendary point and click game that hardly any fan of the genre needs to be introduced to, and the sequel is just proof that at Revolution Software they have a knack for creating an intriguing plot designed to keep us in suspense until the very end. They also have a knack for creating complex characters and their relations with each other. The Remastered edition, as far as I know, is the version in which the entire visuals have been converted to higher resolutions, making the game visually clearer. It has also been enriched with a new dialogue system, where portraits of currently talking characters are displayed along with their spoken text, where in the original version dialogues were displayed above the characters in a standard way. A virtual comic book , which serves as a prologue absent in the original, has also been added. Besides, Broken Sword offers a really interesting story and even more interesting characters to interact with, and a pleasant difference from the streets of European cities or towns, we'll have to spend a lot of time in the tropical climates of Central America. Graphically, the game still looks remarkably good and its sound design, i.e. dialogues, are realized really well. Actors pronounce their lines really convincingly and realistically. The plot, though, is not as compelling and well-written as in the original, but it is still engaging from start to finish. I highly recommend this sequel, if you liked the first adventures of George Stobbart, and I guarantee that you will rather enjoy the game.
