TH Strikes Back (Arcade) CO-OP Playthrough / Well this is definitely something special :D
TH Strikes Back (1994) by Gaelco is a rather unusual item from the run and gun genre, which rather few people have heard of and even fewer have played :P And that's a pity, because it is a unique game in some respects. First of all, the visuals here are extremely sexualized. Our main opponents are alien beings in the shape of human women, usually scantily dressed in clothing exposing their bodily qualities. Personally, I don't mind that, of course :D it's because of this mature approach to the subject that the game is so interesting. In general, the whole graphic design deserves a big plus because it is one of a kind. Sound effects are annoying after some time and the soundtrack is painfully average. This is due to the basic sound of the unenhanced energy shot, which is so squeaky that after a while you don't get enough of it. Fortunately, the game is short, so we won't be tired of it for too long. Short but succinct and very entertaining. Bede szczery..... we have no idea what exactly the game is about. We just assume from the interludes that some professor/doctor wants to take revenge on our heroes, most likely for messing up his plans in the past. Apparently he's making a deal with some race of sexy aliens to get us :D haha so much for our guesses. Our characters as well as the gameplay itself shows that it was largely inspired by Dragon Ball Z. Why do I think so? Because it's hard not to look for comparisons when you see a sculpted hero shooting balls of energy turning our opponents into mush, while flying in space without any vehicles. “Into mush” is a literal term in this game, for the reason that practically every opponent, upon contact with our balls of energy, begins to inflate like a balloon after which it explodes. It basically looks like the whole game looks like one big classic Kitana Fatality from Mortal Kombat II. It looks really caricatural when sexy aliens explode inflating like a balloon in massive numbers. Something unforgettable ahhh. The boss fights are pretty decent and their design is very specific and maybe even controversial, in some cases. You just have to see it for yourself and find out, because it's really a very enjoyable game, especially on two-player...... because experiencing strange moments together is by far the best. The game mechanics are basically the highest standard, which is what Contra offered. That is, we dynamically shoot in different directions, jump, change platforms, collect power ups. But that's not all as the game was enriched with a Shmup-style level where we fly and destroy everything on our way, which as far as I know no Contra has ever offered :P (But I could be wrong) . In general, we recommend at least playing once to see for yourself what a "masterpiece" this is, as there are not many games like it. It's a shame that creators leave us without any kind of ending, because after last boss figh there are only credits and that's all.
