Build for New Players | Part 2: How to get Summoned and join the Warriors Of Sunlight Covenant
This video is an optional supplement to the build, and should only be attempted if you feel confident enough with the controls and combat system to do so. We are going to join the Warrior of Sunlight covenant to get access to a Miracle; Lightning Spear. This Miracle requires a minimum of 20 Faith to use, but you need 25 Faith to join the covenant. This requirement drops by 5 Faith for every boss you help another player defeat as a White Phantom. This means that if we play online and use the Wight Sign Soapstone to help another player defeat the Taurus Demon we can join the covenant at only 20 Faith, the same amount required to use Lightning Spear. If this sounds confusing, hopefully the video will help elucidate how it works. Just be aware that you may be waiting a log time to be summoned. When you use the Soapstone, a small symbol will appear on the ground in other people’s games. If they get close to the symbol it will show a hologram of your character, and they can select an option to summon you into their game world. Simply getting summoned is not enough though, you must defeat the boss of the area without either one of you dying. If the host does die [as happened during this video] you should place your sign again as soon as you get back to your world, as that person will probably summon you again. It may be helpful to have both the Claymore and Astora’s Straight Sword equipped because other players may be incentivised to summon you if your hologram shows you holding a very large sword, but once summoned you can switch to the Astora’s Straight Sword [which should be doing more damage atm] with a single button press.
If you are not confident in your ability to do any of this then don’t worry. The Lightning Spear is not an essential part of this build, and you can always join the Covenant a bit later once you have levelled your character’s Faith to 25. I also recommend levelling your Attunement to 12, but no more than that. This will allow you to have two Miracles equipped simultaneously, which you can easily switch between.
