Burning Road (PS1) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Jaleco's 1996 arcade-style racing game for the Sony PlayStation, Burning Road.
This video shows the championship mode played all the way through on the default settings.
A lot of people compare this to Daytona USA, and the comparison is certainly apt. However, I felt that a more fitting comparison would've been the PC game Screamer - the tracks feature several extremely similar landmarks and animations, the computer is just as infuriatingly cheap, and the graphics are smooth and fast - certainly enough to justify the lack of general detail (just like playing Screamer in 320x240 mode if you were trying to get a playable framerate on a 486).
The soundtrack is pretty hysterical, almost directly aping Dayona with random background singers that say little more than the title of the game. Anyways, I really enjoyed this one for its sheer simplicity. It doesn't try to be anything but a variation on the Ridge Racer/Daytona USA template, and it does it pretty well.
