A playthrough of Activision's 1996 FMV action-adventure game for the Sony PlayStation, Time Commando.

Played on the normal difficulty setting.

I used to play this when it was new on the PC, and besides the halved resolution, the PS1 version is virtually identical to the original Windows release. It was done by Adeline, the team behind that awesomely quirky and dark Little Big Adventure, and this one is equally quirky in dark in much the same way.

Just be warned - if you aren't a fan of 90s PC action games, this probably won't be your thing. The controls are just like most third person games of the time that were designed for a keyboard. They translate quite well to the gamepad, but like Alone in the Dark, City of Lost Children, or even the first Resident Evil, moving your characters is a bit like pushing a shopping trolley - left and right make your character spin in place, up moves him forward, and attacks are done by holding the square button while pushing different directional keys. Clunky and slow it is, but it works fine once you get used to it.

If you can get past the super archaic control scheme, this is a really fun game. The CG FMV backgrounds look great, and the 3D realtime rendered characters blend fairly well with them and are well animated.
