Shanghai | Famicom Playthrough | RadRedRooster
Welcome to my playthrough of _Shanghai (上海)_ (game region: Japan) for the Nintendo Family Computer (FC for short), commonly known as the Famicom, the Japanese equivalent of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
A big thank you to my wife for helping me with this game and making a playthrough possible, as I am absolutely terrible at Mahjong Solitaire.

*– GAME OVERVIEW –*
_Shanghai_ for the Famicom is a Mahjong Solitaire puzzler. It was ported by Sun Electronics Corporation and published by Sunsoft. The game was released in Japan on December 4, 1987.
Sunsoft is the video game division of electronics manufacturer Sun (Electronics) Corporation.
• Developer Activision first brought _Shanghai_ – the earliest computerized version of Mahjong Solitaire – to the Apple Macintosh home computer in North America in July 1986.
◦ The title was originally programmed by Brodie Lockard using PLATO (Programmed Logic for Automatic Teaching Operations) – the earliest educational computer system – based on a more than 100-year-old Chinese game called "The Turtle".
• _Shanghai_ is a single-player matching game that uses a set of Mahjong tiles.
◦ Mahjong Solitaire – which takes its name from the four-player game "Mahjong" because of the tiles used (instead of cards) – is more commonly played on a computer than than at a table.
• Sunsoft developed sequels to _Shanghai_ for arcade (AC), console and handheld platforms.
◦ Most were released in Japan only, with international versions distributed by Activision.
