Call Of The Zone - #236: Elemental Trigger
My situation in Jupiter was unique. Since the Freedom Faction controlled Yanov Station, I could not go there as long as my relations still had them temporarily as enemies. This meant there was no Trader in the level for me to get fresh ammo, food and other needed supplies. Luckily my relations with the Ecologists were good and they did have a repair tech there, but Hermann did not sell anything I needed. Likewise, he would not buy any of the used weapons I was collecting. I had to operate out of the Mobile Lab to safely shelter my Companions, but I had to rely on buying food from friendly or neutral allies I met, and I had to kill my enemies with the hope I could get ammo and other supplies from them.
This is not as bad as it seems, since unlike Yavov that was dangerous once you stepped out the door, I could get on the roof of the Mobile Lab and see far in every direction but south. I could see all the way to east, the road going up to the Checkpoint, which was a major conduit of travel. I could see people coming and going through Kopachy Village from the south, east or north of it. I could see any travel around the west side of Yanov and all along the train tracks going north and south of it. In short, I had great visibility and was surrounded by favored paths of travel. This worked well for meeting my allies for trading and killing my enemies for supplies.
This video starts out with me in the Mobile Lab and apparently the distortion field that I was experiencing back at Volkhov with the unseen Burer, has followed me back to the Mobile Lab and seems to be lingering in this one room where I am standing. If I step into it, it moves to the other wall and then back and forth as we switch places. There is no harm to being in it, so this happening is quite strange. I did a flyover to make sure the Burer had not followed me and was just outside the Mobile Lab. That didn't happen but then a light caught my eye in Kopachy Village. I went out to investigate and found a single Loner roaming around just waiting to be eaten by a mutant. For his own safety I made him a Companions and took him back to the Mobile Lab.
I now had 9 Loner Companions, 1 Clear Sky and 1 Ecologist. I went back outside on the roof and just before midnight I caught a four-man Freedom squad coming from Volkhov and entering Kopachy Village. There was some good loot and weapons from them. An hour and a half later coming from the same place and going north, a Clear Sky squad was entering Kopachy. I went out and brought them back to the Mobile Lab as Companions. Now I had 14. An hour after that, I caught a single Freedom Exo checking on his four dead buddies.
Dawn arrived and it had been a busy night. I got a message of a Loner shooting a Stalker north of the Container Yard. I wasn't certain what that meant so I went over the hill in my blind spot to the south and found a single Loner standing near a dead Loner and a Zombie. The Bandits were just a little more south, so I decided to being him back to the Mobile Lab with me. With 15 Companions and three Scientists in the Lab, it was getting crowded. I knew I would probably release the Clear Sky and Ecologist Companions soon, since traveling with them was a risk as they had different enemies and allies than the Loners did.
