The recovery phase of Holy Cross breaks you out of various examining and switch-pulling animations, sometimes allowing you to do small skips and perhaps other mayhem.

I: switch at Sewers. You can have the switch turn by itself while you're already running to your next objective, saving seconds.

II: you can move while activating Ark of Brotherhood... maybe you could glitch things up with this somehow? I'd need to start a new save to test it out, though.

III: at many other generic examination points like at corpses nothing too interesting happens. The event doesn't proceed after you've broken out of it.

IV: another time saving example. At Chromatic Observatory, doing this trick makes Gabriel forfeit pulling the switch before using the machine, saving again seconds.

V and VI: actual fight skips at the same level. You can escape from the trap after picking up the lenses because you are able to move early. Useful in a speedrun where you don't have the Wings jump at your disposal.
