Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth: Stage 1
As of this point, it has been years since Nintendo such down their Wii Shop Channel. It somewhat of a travesty because this means the death of WiiWare titles.
One of their greatest WiiWare games is a remake of the Game Boy's Castlevania: The Adventure, but rather than this being a true remake, it's more of a re-imagining.
Also, the sound and music group of this game must REALLY love Castlevania Bloodlines, as some sound effects, and the overall tone of nearly all of the songs sounds like something I'd hear from Konami's Sega Genesis games. Stage 1's theme is an outright remix from Bloodlines.
----------
The story of this "remake" is the same as its Game Boy original. The Belmont clan had sworn to defeat the evil Count Dracula anytime he and his fortress of chaos, the Castlevania, itself, rose from the ground to terrorize the innocent in the night. The previous hero from this clan was Trevor Belmont.
100 years have passed since that battle, and so Dracula has risen once again to spread his darkness once more. It was up to Trevor's descendant, Christopher Belmont, to take up the holy whip Vampire Killer and hunt the night, defeat Dracula's horrible forces, and eventually battle against the Count, himself.
The story of this is basically the same as it was in the Game Boy game. It's more of a re-imagining because the levels Christopher will venture through are completely different.
----------
Upgrading Christopher's Vampire Killer is like it was in the Game Boy game. First you change it from a leather whip to a Morning Star and then you upgrade it to the Fireball Whip.
How the Fireball Whip is held is different from before. In the Game Boy game, if Christopher gets hit once, he loses it. In ReBirth, it just simply lasts about 30 seconds as shown in a gauge even if he should get hit during it.
Play in the Normal Player Style, and you'll also have access to five subweapons: Holy Water, Cross, Axe, Dagger, and Stopwatch.
Speaking of Player Styles, in Normal Style, you have more control over your jumps. In Classic Style, your jumps will be in strict arcs like in older games, namely the NES and GB games as well as using Richter in Rondo of Blood (but not Maria).
There will also often be Keys for you to fight that will either let you reach for secret rooms or take Christopher through alternate routes. These alternate routes will still eventually lead to the same boss, though.
----------
There are both minibosses and bosses in this game. The minibosses of Stage 1 is Giant Bat that is made up of smaller ones.
The main bosses is simply called Eye, but it is much larger than the Big Eyes that it can spawn.
