2Welcome to Steins Gate, a Visual Novel within the Science Adventure's series of Visual Novels. Released originally in 2009, remastered on Steam for release in September 2016.
We follow along the story of a mad scientist named Rintarō Okabe (nickname Hōōin Kyōma) and his long time friend Mayuri Shiina. The beginning of a journey into an apocalyptic nightmare is upon us, the divergence meter will soon reach an all time low percentage and Rintarō will soon face unimaginable entities to overcome.
The present day though, Rintarō and friends after discovering unexplainable functions of the PhoneWave are now conducting experiments to see if they can change the past, a lottery, changing the past by sending oneself a series of numbers that corresponds to the winning numbers in the previous lottery rollover. Rintarō's point of view is a little defeatist for not putting down all the numbers that cropped up, but makes sense for measuring the effects of changing the past while maintaining a stable worldline.
