Chrono Trigger Minimum Battles (LLG) Finale - 116 Battles to Dream Devourer
With Lavos finally defeated, we've unlocked the final challenge of this run, the Dimensional Vortex. We begin with the Antiquity Vortex and its boss the Alabaster Shade. The Alabaster Shade has high evasion and Ice magic, so Acuity Rings and Blue Mail/Vest are recommended for Crono and Robo. Marle has higher magic damage so she doesn't need immunity to Ice, but a Mermaid Helm is recommended to increase her survivability. The Alabaster Shade is immune to Ice Magic so Marle should focus on buffing with Haste, healing, and using ethers to restore ally's MP. Repeated Rapid Fire First and Frenzy attacks will eventually defeat it.
Moving on to the Present Vortex, our next challenge is the Once-King Dalton. Have Robo heal and Marle use Haste while Crono attacks. Once the party is hasted Marle and Crono can use Ice Sword. Dalton falls fairly easily, the major challenge of this vortex is the Steel Shade that follows him. The Steel Shade uses powerful Light magic so we use White Mail/Vest on Crono and Robo and have Marle uses the Rainbow Helm. He also has high evasion so Acuity Rings are equipped on our damage dealers.
Progressing to the Future Vortex, it's imperative we secure Robo's ultimate weapon, the Apocalypse Arm. This weapon has low base damage but yields 9999 damage on a critical hit, so we combine that with the Dragon Tear from Lost Sanctum to increase Robo's damage to the ultimate. When we face the Crimson Shade, bring Marle and Robo along to support Lucca and focus on the Crimson Shade First. The Crimson Shade is immune to Fire damage so Lucca can focus her magic attacks on the Eggsterminator. Naturally, we want to equip Red Mails and Vest to protect us against the powerful Fire magic from the Crimson Shade. Robo's Critical Hits will do the majority of our damage, but Marle can assist as well with her 777 damage hits from Venus Bow.
Now it's time for the final challenge of this run. Our strategy will be to use Robo's Apocalypse Arm as our only source of damage, while Marle and Crono provide support. In the initial phase of the battle, the Dream Devourer will counter any physical attacks by draining all MP, while also repeatedly attacking the whole party with a "Devours Dreams from distant Dimension" attack. This attack will take out a full HP Crono but Robo can just barely hang on with the correct equipment. Equip Robo with the Apocalypse Arm and Dragon Tear for offense, and use the Regal Plate and Prismatic Helm to increase his Magic Defense. Marle should be equipped with the Angel's Tiara and Barrier Ring to increase her survivability. Crono will die regularly, so for him use Nova Armor, Haste Helm and Green Dream. Our strategy is to use Marle to Haste and Heal, supporting Robo as much as possible, and allowing him to fish for critical hits. Forget about Crono until you've done over 10,000 damage and the battle moves to Phase 2. In Phase 2, we want to revive Crono when we want to cast Lifeline, and attempt to keep Auto-Revive on Marle and Robo throughout the battle. Marle should reapply Haste to Robo whenever he is revived, and otherwise use MegaElixers throughout to keep the party healthy. Eventually, Robo will get his critical hits and the battle will be won!
