Chrono Trigger Minimum Battles (LLG) Part 7 - 105 Battles to Lavos Core
Once the Lavos Shell is defeated, instead of advancing directly to the final boss there are some additional side quests available to us in the Lost Sanctum. Completing these side quests will grant numerous awards which will assist us when we take on Lavos's final form.
Goldhammer can be defeated with magic attacks as he has a high defense score. The Nu Guardian is best countered by equipped Blue Mail and Blue Plate and attacking with Ice Dual techs. The Nu Guardian counterattacks with the same element, so we can manipulate it into healing us with Ice attacks. The Nu Master is much more challenging and has access to powerful Light attacks so White Mail and White Plate are recommended. Have Marle Haste the party while Crono uses Frenzy and Robo Heals, once Marle has hasted the party she and Crono can spam Ice Sword. Using Dual Techs is recommended as the Nu Master will drain the health of the attacking character, so fewer more powerful attacks from Dual techs will have a greater effect. When the Nu Master prompts with "Power Increased" we stop using magic attacks and hit him with physical attacks until Victory. Next is the Archaeofangs, the red one is weak to Ice and absorbs Fire while the blue one is weak to Fire and Absorbs Ice. They have the power to revive each other, so we want to defeat them as simultaneously as possible. Further, we want to equip Black Mail and Black Plate to counter their powerful Shadow attacks. Have Robo and Crono use physical attacks on the blue Archaeofangs while Marle and Crono can use Ice Sword on the Red one. The final boss in the lost Sanctum is the Master-at-arms and his Bladesman. Equip White Mail and White Plate to counter the Master-at-arms Light magics and focus on Bladesman first. The Master-at-Arms counterattacks after each attack, so we'll use Ice Sword to maximize damage and let Robo focus on healing.
Once all the Lost Sanctum quests are completed it's time to face the Lavos Core. We want both Crono and Robo to be equipped with Haste helms and both Crono and Marle to have Red Mail or Red Vest equipped. We also must have Robo with Greendream accessory equipped and Marle with the Prismatic Helm and Speed Ring. At the start of the battle, Lavos uses his Doors of Doom attack to do high magic damage, which will kill anybody not wearing a Prismatic Helm but Robo will be automatically revived via Greendream. When the battle begins we must act fast to revive Crono and heal the party with a Mega Elixer before using LIfeline to have auto-revive active before the next Door of Doom attack. With Auto-Revive active, Crono and Robo can attack the arms with Frenzy and Rapid Fire Punch before focusing on the body. We must be liberal with Mega Elixers throughout so we have full HP and MP when the battle progresses to the next phase. Lavos has the ability to remove status immunity, so we must also use Panacea to remove status when necessary
Once Lavos reveals his final form, we must once again act quickly to cast Lifeline and keep auto-revive active whenever possible. Focus first on the left bit, then the center body, before attacking the true Lavos Core on the right. Eventually, the Lavos Core will revive the other parts, at which point we will shift our focus back to them before returning to attacking the core. Continuous attacks with Frenzy, Rapid Fire Fist, and Ice II will eventually lead to victory.
