5The wait for a follow up to Chip's Challenge from Chuck Sommerville took over 20 years to appear. Finally in 2013 following a successful kickstarter we got Chuck's Challenge. Which see Chip replaced by a purple character called Woop who for want of a better word kidnaps Chuck Sommerville to design games for him.
This is really a straight forward 3D update for Chip's Challenge just with the names and look of the game changed, there are a number of new mechanics, but almost all the original gameplay features used in Chip's Challenge return. Graphics have been given a welcome cartoon look to fit in with the rather odd boy player character Woop. Music also fits in with the game's light hearted tone. Presentation is the weakest area, but the game is getting a bit of a revamp in 2020 to address these issues. We also had issue with it not supporting one of our joypads on PC.
Overall it's an excellent puzzle and the ability to create your own puzzles and share them with friends gives you a huge amount of replay value. Fans of Chips' Challenge should grab this right and if you enjoy puzzle games this is worth looking at too.
