CiB Game Boy Theater - Space Invaders and Spanky's Quest (Episode 78)
1The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
WOAH. This is the most impressed I've been of a port of a 15 year old game since... now. Space Invaders for the Game Boy is still Space Invaders, but the fact that they made an -entirely new- games for the Super Game Boy is amazing. Seriously, I'm impressed. Yes, the game is still Space Invaders and there's not much you can do with a port of Space Invaders, but, wow. Definitely suggest picking this up if you have a Super Game Boy.
Spanky's Quest for the SNES is one of my Childhood Games (tm). The SNES version is cute, spunky, and silly. It's really hard to move such a colorful game over to the Game Boy, but Natsume did a solid job here. It's not as good or involved as the SNES version, but why would we expect that to be the case? This, for once, is a solid puzzle game. Worth the pickup! Thanks for watching!
