CiB Let's Try - Floating Runner: Quest For the Seven Crystals (PS1)
Playstation 1 is truly the 'Wild West' of video game systems. In the early days of 3D, it seemed like every developer tried to throw their hat into the massively popular PS1 ring and produced some of the most random, odd games of all-time. Recently, we sat down with a stack of PS1 games we never heard of, and the results are... unsurprising.
What I expected: a sub-par, generic, 3D platformer. What I got: the best dang anime Bubsy 3D EVER!!
Floating Runner was developed by Xing Interactive - which apparently, somehow, still makes bad games, as of a few years ago (check out the classic Xing Chess!), and was published by THQ. I wonder why THQ went bankrupt?
Anyway, this is a weird game with very early 3D controls aka 'It plays like Bubsy 3D'. I appreciate what they are trying to do, but the camera angle makes the game almost unplayable. I'm certain it was set that way to minimize lag due to seeing less on screen, but this one is hardly playable nowadays. Thanks for watching!
