CiB Let's Try - Go! Go! Hypergrind (GameCube)
The Gamecube was a very unique system - we're taking a quick look at some of the games for the Cube that don't get as much notoriety as the big first-party titles.
Go! Go! Hypergrind was released in November 2003, only for GameCube. It was developed by Poponchi - as far as I can tell, this is the only game they ever developed. It was also co-designed by Spumco, the animation studio that did Ren & Stimpy. It was published by Atlus.
This is one of the rarest games on the GameCube, and to be honest, I've never seen it, and rarely heard of it before today. It is surprising that it came out so relatively early in the GameCube's life, but it is not surprising at all that the game didn't sell well.
The rarity is not surprising at all either - published by Atlus - weird, silly Japanese-ish game with weird humor - yep, makes sense! The game itself is a poor-man's Tony Hawk - it's definitely better than most of the Tony Hawk knockoffs we've played on the channel, and I'm sure it opens up a bit more as you go on, but the main gimmick of the game seems to be the story and how silly it is. Obviously, this game isn't worth the price of admission, but if you're able to play it by emulation, it definitely is worth a play. Thanks for watching!
