CiB Let's Try - Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked (PS2)
Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked was released on April 11, 2006 as a PS2 exclusive. It was developed by Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture (who also made Killer 7, No More Heroes, etc), and published by Bandai Namco.
Sometimes we do a Let's Try game that really surprises me in a positive way, and Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked was a treat to see. You can really, really see the Suda51 influence here, in details even as small as the font used for certain menus. This game to me -screams- Killer 7 in style, and as many of his games are concerned, it is definitely more style than substance.
Suda51's games are always very polarizing in that way - especially his early games. Clearly, Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked is much more of an experience than it is a game - and you're either going to love it or hate it. As time went on, Suda's games ended up getting easier to digest, especially post-No More Heroes.
Don't be surprised if you see me do a full playthrough of this game sometime on the channel - I truly had no idea this game existed, and I'm very intrigued by what I've seen so far. Thanks for watching!
