Playstation 1 is truly the 'Wild West' of video game systems. In the early days of 3D, it seemed like every developer tried to throw their hat into the massively popular PS1 ring and produced some of the most random, odd games of all-time. Recently, we sat down with a stack of PS1 games we never heard of, and the results are... unsurprising.

40 Winks was released for the PS1 on November 14, 1999. It was developed by Eurocom (who also made Mortal Kombat 4, Duke Nukem Zero Hour, Hydro Thunder, and were pretty big in the late 90s), and published by GT Interactive (which is or was part of Atari, and that's always really confusing).

Somewhat infamously, the N64 version of this game was pretty much completed but cancelled. People have found a way to reserve engineer and physically release it for the N64, so that's really cool!

As for the game, it's a pretty standard collect-a-thon game - one that happens to be a childhood game (that we never played that much lol). For my brief experience, I'm pleasantly surprised, although not having a 'how much you've collected' screen is kinda lame (though I mighta missed it), but if you're looking for a solid platformer, give 40 Winks a try --- and thanks for watching!
