CiB Let's Try - Wipeout (PS1)
3Wipeout was released worldwide on September 29, 1995, and was developed by Psygnosis (our boys! Bram Stoker's Dracula, Lemmings, etc), and published by Sony themselves.
Now that I think of it, I bet that more copies of Wipeout: The Game (based on the ABC game show) was sold for the Wii than all of the Wipeout games combined for Sony consoles. Le sigh.
Anyway, Wipeout would have been an amazing game for an early PS1 owner, and it still looks and runs very solidly today. However, 3D racing games are one of those genres that, in general, age pretty poorly, and this is no exception. I give major props to Psygnosis and Sony for being able to make a game that ran this well in 1995, but there is much, much better on the PS1 --- perhaps another Wipeout game, that we'll get to another time.
