2A nice breather, who also for some reason feels like a Bloodborne boss. Probably because he's huge, shaped vaguely like the Cleric Beast, and allows you to swing at him like a madman for most of the fight.
He usually opens with his dark crystal attack. If you don't destroy the crystal, it will spawn a minion, which is pretty much the worst possible thing that can happen in this fight. However, you can manipulate its position, since it tracks you before surfacing. Causing it to emerge near the boss allows you to hit both at once, and makes Blade Dance stack up twice as quickly.
Staying behind the Despot makes him really, really easy to deal with.
Poisoning the boss before the second phase allows you to indirectly damage him during his unnecessarily long power-up sequence, and shortens the fight by a considerable margin. I wonder if speedruns will adopt that strategy -- or if they'll manage to stunlock him in a way that prevents him from having the chance to transform. My money's on the latter.
