Command & Conquer: Red Alert - PC - Intro & Gameplay, Allies Missions 1 - 4 [4K60]
With a remaster of Westwood studios classic RTS series due for re-release by EA next year. We take a look at the original PC version which is still available on EA's Origin service. It's fair to say in many areas the follow up to the original Command & Conquer was very much thinking outside the box. As the game's setting is moved from modern day warfare to an alternative history version of historical events.
Something few people expected and in some way a bit disjointing as to how and why it was connected to the original. While the story was a total revamp the game itself, is largely what can be described as a expansion pack sequel, in that this could have just been an expansion pack for the first game. The main change being the addition of seafaring units and everyone's favourite K9 unit which was perfect for taking down spies.
It may have been more of the same, but it was glorious fun and just as good if not better than the first and more of the same was what we wanted. The plot is bonkers and while it was kind of carried on in Red Alert 2 the third game reset the whole plot of the series. Which was a shame as Kane having some master plan and changing history for good or evil was never properly explained. Red Alert got two expansions on PC Counterstrike and The Aftermath.
If like us you still you still have your original discs for Red Alert then it does work on modern systems, but you will need to download mods to get it to run and a new installer, details at: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Red_Alert
First four mission of the Allies campaign, mission four took longer than it should have done as Riven admits he should have taken out the harvester right at the start. Like many Command & Conquer fans we will be checking out the remakes of both the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert when they release next year.
