Sonic the Hedgehog unofficial Master System conversion for the Commodore64 released by Mr. SID in 2021. (Release 1.2) Developed By:-

Andreas Varga - Code & SoundFX
Oliver Lindau - Graphics
Mikkel Hastrup - Music

The game can be freely downloaded at https://csdb.dk

The game does require the Ram Expansion Unit (REU) of at least 256k. With 512k or higher you can preload the whole game into ram. The REU is an official commodore unit we could have all bought back in the day to level up the C64 but it never caught on. Just maybe if we had a game of this calibre to show it off things may have turned out differently.

What a conversion though C64. Game of the year, game of the decade!! It looks and plays just like the Master System game. Some levels seem shorter and not as many enemies around, but that may just be my ageing memory of the original. The maps are similar enough that I know my way around the maps.

This is more of a bonus recording in NTSC . Mainly for fans of the faster music but the game doesnt run quite as well on a stock NTSC C64 requiring an accelerator or C128. While the game plays mostly fine, there will be some gfx glitches when enemies appear on screen.

Recorded in Winvice 3.4, NTSC, 8580SID
