Control part 7: Board games (PC / Ultimate Edition)
0It's finally time to take a look at Control's DLC, starting with The Foundation DLC which adds a new mission available after you finish the main story.
The Foundation indeed refers to an area we've visited once before, but yields entry deeper into a network of caves seemingly revolving around the very heart of the Oldest House. Incidentally, one of the hardest parts of the DLC seemed to be just figuring out where the darned entrance to this place was to begin with, as I spent way too long searching far and wide for it (mostly thanks to, you guessed it, the map system once again royally sucking and the first objective indicating the entirely wrong area).
The new area offers a surprising amount of content at least in terms of exploration duration, as well as a couple of interesting new abilities that give the area a bit of a metroidvania-esque vibe (it's too bad they're only likely to be useful within the one area). There's also several new types of personal/weapon mods... which is a bit problematic as they don't expand inventory space to compensate for them. Most importantly, however, we have one more visit with an old friend, which might not pan out the way you'd expect...
I didn't quite manage to complete the entirety of the area in one go, so we'll be finishing this up during the next stream, as well as potentially starting the remaining AWE DLC.
