The Crash Bandicoot Series started on the PlayStation console.
The first game, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and Crash Team Racing were all developed by Naughty Dog.

Later on, the series got picked up by other developers and publishers. The Crash Bandicoot series went strong from 2002-2008. Activision now owns the Crash Bandicoot rights!

At Playstation Experience (Dec 5-6 2015), Sony computer Entertainment America's President was wearing a crash Bandicoot T-Shirt. A lot of fans got hyped up that moment. Unfortunately, the rumor of Crash returning for the PS4 and Xbox One was shut down.

The Crash Bandicoot Series has some cancelled games apparently:
Coretx Chaos, Crash Landed/I am Crash Bandicoot, and Crash team racing 2010. These games never saw the light of day. However, some beta footages can be found here: https://www.unseen64.net/tag/crash-bandicoot/

There are some Fan-Made Unreal Engine 4 versions of Crash Bandicoot, they are not complete games, but are projects in progress. Who knows, these fan-made games might turn out to be real games in the future!
