Yooka-Laylee - Upcoming 3D Platformer - What We Know So Far
Yooka-Laylee is an upcoming platformer game being developed by PlaytonicGames.
Rareware, developer of classic games such as Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong and Conker’s Bad fur Day on the Nintendo64, was bought by Microsoft in 2002.
In 2008, Microsoft and Rare came up with Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts for the Xbox 360. Although the game is pretty unique in its own way, a lot of fans don’t consider it a true Banjo Kazooie game.
Eventually, ex-workers at Rare formed their own little development team, known as PlaytonicGames today. This development team felt like platformer games aren’t as around as they use to be, so that’s why they came up with Yooka-Laylee.
Yooka-Laylee is set to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. PlaytonicGames describes Yooka-Laylee as a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie. Not only it is similar to the Banjo Kazooie classic series, it will feature the work of old composers.
Grant Kirkhope and David Wise are making a return! In recent news, Kevin Bayliss, character artist behind the Banjo Kazooie series and Donkey Kong Country (DKC), has officially joined PlaytonicGames.
Yooka-Laylee has exceeded its funding goal. Over 1,000,000 dollars have been funded until last June.
NO OFFFICIAL RELEASE DATE. Planned for 2016.
