A lot of fans thought that the Popeye movie would get cancelled. Fortunately, Sony's still up for it and hired a new writer for the film.

The Popeye animated was originally planned to be directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the one behind the Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack Series. Unfortunately, he left the Popeye project for other projects after hearing Sony's opinion.

The writer behind the famous Ratchet & Clank Series TJ Fixman is looking forward to writing a story for Popeye.

Popeye first appeared 87 years ago in a comic strip by cartoonist Elzie Segar. Today, Popeye is considered a huge culture treasure. Popeye is even being used for marketing products today.

TJ Fixman or Todd Fixman has worked for Insomniac Games from 2007 to 2013. He was a junior writer for Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction. Later on, he became a senior writer for the rest of the series. He is also the writer of the brand new upcoming Ratchet and Clank Movie 2016 and PS4 game.

The Popeye animated movie has no official release date yet. But hopefully, once Sony sees Fixman's work, the movie will finally start production.
