Creating Parallax Backgrounds in Godot | Chill Sunday Morning Coding - Episode 28
In this video, I explore creating a parallax background using Godot. We experiment with layer scaling, texture repeating, and tweaking scroll scales to achieve a smooth background effect for a potential platformer. I also dive into working with Godot's material system, touching on items like canvas item materials, repeat sizes, and blending modes. Along the way, I discuss challenges with creating a dynamic camera system and the potential for integrating tiles and more detailed assets in the future.
I approach all this with an emphasis on experimentation and learning more about how Godot handles background effects and its flexible toolset. By the end of the stream, we’ve set up a basic parallax effect and created a jumping-off point for further game development adventures.
