In this video, I dive into building foundational elements for a platformer game using Godot. Today, I focus on creating and implementing tile maps, working with collision layers for the terrain, and starting to design the visual elements of the game. Along the way, I explore the Sunnyland Forest pixel art pack for game assets and learn how to integrate and optimize sprite sheets for tiles and characters. Additionally, I touch on creating slopes, defining collision properties, and setting up initial player movement to interact with the world.

Throughout the session, we also talk about balancing learning game development with project goals. While the primary focus is on mastering the Godot engine, I aim to keep things practical by sticking to classic platformer mechanics—drawing inspiration from games like Super Mario Brothers. Experiments include designing simple game levels, configuring player physics, and utilizing animated sprites to bring the main character to life.

Join me as I continue my journey into game development, sharing lessons learned, challenges faced, and solutions explored in real-time! If you're curious about Godot or have questions about certain mechanics, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
