Customizing Dices in a Dicebuilder Roguelite | Tamarak Trail - Part 1
Hello everyone! This is Tamarak Trail, a dicebuilder roguelite that was released yesterday. Yes, you are reading right, this is not a deckbuilder, because here you are customizing your dices and each face is a different spell/attack. You start with two dices, but you are getting more as you progress, and every turn you roll them and execute the drawn action.
Let's start talking about the good aspects in the game. The art is great. Animations, background, enemy design, it is really detailed, specially for this kind of game. Also, some of the faces you can get are really interesting and you can unleash great combos.
Bad points now... Let's start by the fact that I got absolutely no tutorial... Maybe because I played a demo a year ago? Which wouldn't make a lot of sense, considering they usually reset your progress from the demo once the game is released, but, well, I was so lost during the start. Lack of variety in faces and enemies. I mentioned how you could create interesting combos... but there wasn't a lot of variety; at some point, I was seeing the same rewards over and over. Same with enemies, runs are pretty long (can be 3 hours long), but you barely see more than 10 different enemies.
Another detail to mention, meta-progression seems to be painfully slow, but I haven't played enough to have a strong opinon in that one.
Also, there is a huge lack of balance, and most of the enemies are here to prolongue the run, their only purpose being not getting killed fast. But I will address that during the next video. This one was my first run and, once I learnt how to play, I was really enjoying, but I started to get disappointed during my next run.
