Customize Your Defenses In A Story-Driven Sci-fi Tower Defense | Engineered To Purpose Playtest
Hello everyone! This is a playtest of a game that is going to be released soon. This is Engineered to Purpose, a story-driven sci-fi tower defense game whose main charm (besides the story) are the customizable towers. You have different types of cannons, that you can attach to many different parts, and then add modifiers. In the middle of the waves you can even level them up, getting more modifiers. It is a quite interesting concept, but my main problem is that making strong towers was too expensive, so by the end it just felt better to fill the arena with cheap defenses.
My main complain here being the lack of crowd control towers, given the lack of precision of the bomber one. I even thought about giving it some slow modifier, so it can attack several units and slow them down, but it just wouldn't hit the target. Also, poison felt pretty underwhelming, even in long stages... I would have really like to see some kind of chain lightning tower, which can attack many units without dealing a lot of damage, then I would have been able to make some nice use of the slow-down upgrade (there was no point on add it to the normal towers, because they would just kill the units).
