Just a quick video of myself checking out the open world in Cyberpunk 2077 after having completed the Prologue section. I'm playing the Xbox version here (technically on the Series X, but the game is not really taking advantage of the new hardware until a patch comes out next year), because it's still December 9 where I live and it's easier to bypass the regional release restrictions on console than it is on the PC. I do own a Steam copy of the game as well, though, and haven't yet decided which will be my mainline platform for CD Projekt RED's new open world RPG...assuming that I'll be playing much of it at all, that is.

The initial reviews are decidedly mixed, and the first few hours with the game have been pretty forgettable for me. The world feels surprisingly lifeless at first glance, and the tech-related "nextgen gaming today!" promises of this super-hyped release appear to have been quite exaggerated. Digital Foundry did have some nice things to say about the PC version in their latest video on the game, though, but fancy raytracing effects will not improve upon lackluster FPS combat or generic dialogue anytime soon...
