Casually comparing newly released games on currentgen and lastgen consoles has become one of my favorite pastimes these days, and the technologically ambitious Watch Dogs: Legion is certainly an interesting example of multi-platform design.

Whereas Assassin's Creed Valhalla favors a smooth frame rate above most other features, Legion's polygonally dense city streets and raytraced reflections are more of a challenge even for the currentgen consoles such as the Xbox Series X. And as expected, the visual fidelity and performance of the original Xbox One version is a little rough. Raytracing is obviously not included in the lastgen release, the load times are pretty bad and the presumably dynamic resolution seems really low most of the time. That said, playing on a good 1080p TV (my trusty old Samsung UE40ES8005 comes in handy for this) still makes for an acceptable open world experience, apart from some infuriating save game-related bugs which are sadly cross-platform as well...
