Dark Souls 3: Block Queuing Running R1 Tech (Raw Clip)
One of the oldest pvp techs (technically it can be used for pve though) is chaining together running R1 attacks by queuing a block. All you need to do is hold block as you do the attack and you will be able to start your next running R1 sooner. Technically it's not that much faster than pressing R1 at the perfect frame of your recovery but by doing this tech you eliminate the need of a frame perfect input since the game will buffer the input and perform it at the first opportunity it can (unless cancelled by something like a roll or getting hit).
If you're wondering how advantageous this can be try chaining running R1s without it. You'll notice that to consecutively chain R1s you'll need to time your attack input to be as you're about to start the run animation. In comparison if you're holding block during the running R1 you can press R1 again at almost any point after that attack to start the next running R1.
This is one of the reasons why curved sword and katanas used to be absolute monsters in pvp (not that curved swords have really gotten worse) before the nerf to their forward momentum on running attacks. Although not as effective as it once was this technique can still provide enough of a difference in chasing down an opponent and is one that many players seem to be forgetting about or were just never aware of.
Also note that this tech can be done with any weapon, one handed or two handed, but since it is emphasizing running R1s it works best on weapons with a good chasedown (such as a spear). The only requirement is that you are blocking with something between attacks. Lastly, be careful with your stamina. In addition to using a lot of stamina by doing multiple attacks in a row you are blocking. Your stamina will recover slower while you hold L1 and if your opponent suddenly does attack while you're low on stamina it can lead to an unfortunate guardbreak.
