Four Kings

Health: 9,604

Souls: 60,000

Strategy:

-First thing, to actually get to this guy you need to be wearing the Covenant of Artorias to enter the boss arena. You cannot take it out and swap it with something else during the fight or you'll die instantly.

-You'll have a little bit of time in the abyss before the first king enters. They primarily do magic damage, so MAGIC BARRIER or GREAT MAGIC BARRIER, or anything with high magic resistance is helpful.

-After one appears, a second will appear about 40 seconds later. This will continue until there are four in the arena.

-Your goal with this boss is to kill each kill as quickly as possible so you don't have to deal with all of them at once.

-If you remain VERY close to a king, it's swing attacks will do significantly less damage. use this to your advantage. Having high POISE is also very helpful as you won't be interrupted during your attacks.

-Their most annoying abilities are their homing magic attacks, which last for 15 seconds before finally going away, and their magic explosion attack. With the homing magic, you're gonna want to just eat the damage, as 15 seconds is just too much time wasted unless you plan to fight this boss with ranged attacks, which actually is a viable strategy.

-It's magic explosion attack and life drain attack have almost identical tells; both has the king spin around while emanating a purple aura. Best to just break lock-on and get away if you see it start to spin.

-The new kings that spawn are not aggressive, they do not actively pursue you like the first king that appears. They'll attack with homing spells and swipe at you if you get near, but they won't gang up on you.

-A weird thing about this boss is that they will always continue spawning in after about 40 seconds until there are four. Each king has about a quarter of the life bar, and it doesn't matter how much damage you do to them individually, they'll all die regardless if you've done enough damage to the life bar. Because of this, you'll see kings spawn past four if you end up taking too long after killing one or two, and it's even possible to only kill three kings before the boss fully dies.

-You can continue to damage a dying king; if one hasn't spawned in yet, this is an excellent opportunity to do additional damage.

Attacks:

-Homing Arrow: A king summons the large but slow moving projectile that strongly homes in on you. It's capable of making u-turns to get you. You can block it with high magic resistance, but if you see this coming you should probably just try to block some of the damage but eat the rest. It takes 15 full second before it disappears, and that's time you don't have.

-Purple bomb: The king spins around before creating a big purple explosion infront of it. Best to either run away when you see it spinning or have a shield with good stability and high magic protection.

-Humanity Steal: Looks just like the bomb attack, but instead of creating a magic explosion, the king tries to grab you. If you've got any humanity on you, it'll steal one. With both this and the bomb, just get away if you see it spinning, it's a crapshoot whether it'll do one or the other.

-Homing mass arrows: Sometimes it'll shoot off six energy shots instead of the big homing arrow. They're faster but can be avoided, as they don't track nearly to the extent the big homing shot does.

-Slash attacks: It's got two different slash attacks, one where it's very wide and performs it either once or twice or one where it's more of a side-way slash, also either once or with a follow-up. Both of these are very damaging at a distance but do a lot less damage up close. Stay close to the king and keep strafing and it's often possible for these attacks to whiff completely.

-Vertical Slash: Very damaging down attack. Better to dodge than try to block.

-Thrust attack: If you're at a distance from the king he'll attempt this. It's very damaging and best dodged, as it'll do a lot of damage if you're hit by it.

Special Drops:

-Bequeathed lord Soul Shard

-4 Humanity
